Biography

Jamie Halladay is a lifelong singer and musician with an enthusiastic love of performing music and an eclectic sense of many different musical styles.  As a private voice instructor he works to communicate his knowledge of singing to his students while encouraging them to continue developing their own skills in music.
In the spring of 2010 Jamie Halladay received his Bachelor’s in Vocal Music Performance from Metropolitan State College of Denver under the private instruction of Dr. Mee Ae Nam.  While a voice student he had the privilege of participating in a number of master classes, including one conducted by Dr. Mutsumi Moteki of the University of Colorado Music Department. With her he was given the opportunity to enhance his skills in performing German art song.  He was also a performer in a master class directed by internationally known opera singer Simon Estes, who helped Mr. Halladay to cultivate his abilities as a soloist singing sacred vocal music.
While studying private voice at Metro State, Jamie Halladay developed his skills as a singer and musician which involved the studies of vocal pedagogy and vocal diction, with a focus on German, French, Italian and English.
As a music student and choir member, Jamie Halladay performed as a soloist with both the Metropolitan State Men’s Choir and the Metropolitan State Chorale. He was also an understudy for the college’s production of W.A. Mozart’s Requiem.  Jamie Halladay was a regular cast member in many of the opera productions, most notably as “Messr. Gobineau,” in The Medium by Gian-Carlo Menotti, and as “The Captain of the Guard,” in the premiere of The Lady or the Tiger by Leanna Kirchoff and Cherise Leiter.
In addition to being a choral member and opera cast member while at Metro State, Jamie Halladay was a participant in the Metro Singers Association Vocal Arts Competition where he received First Place in the College Art Song Division.  He also received a number of music based scholarships including one granted by the Denver Lyric Opera Guild.
Jamie Halladay is currently working as the Staff Singer and Section Leader for St. Thomas Episcopal Church of Denver and as the Cantor and Choral Guild Director for House for All Sinners and Saints Lutheran Church in Denver.  Most recently, Mr. Halladay was able to assemble a choir for House for All Sinners and Saints Lutheran, and conducted an anthem for their Ash Wednesday service in addition to his customary responsibilities.
Because of Jamie Halladay’s broad-based experiences in singing, he is not only trained in the Bel Canto, or “operatic” style of singing, but in the musical theater, pop music, sacred, religious and West African singing styles as well.  As a private voice instructor, Mr. Halladay strives to bring out the best in each of his students by implementing all that he has learned throughout his life as a musician and performer.
